Azerbaijan UNESCO heritage sites

Azerbaijan is home to a rich cultural and historical legacy, and several of its sites are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites due to their exceptional universal value. One of the most significant UNESCO sites is the Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, located about 64 kilometers from Baku. This area is famous for its ancient petroglyphs, some of which date back to the Upper Paleolithic period. Within Icherisheher, visitors can explore landmarks such as the Maiden Tower, a symbol of Baku, and the Shirvanshahs’ Palace, a royal residence from the 15th century. The cobbled streets, narrow alleys, and historic buildings offer a journey back in time, highlighting the cultural and architectural history of Azerbaijan.
