Baku City Tour

Get our Baku City Tour to explore the fascinating contrasts of Azerbaijan’s capital – where history meets modernity. From the UNESCO-listed Old City to the iconic Flame Towers and the peaceful Caspian Sea Boulevard, this full-day guided tour is your gateway to Baku’s cultural treasures. Enjoy a seamless private guided Baku tour with your own car, professional English-speaking guide, and fully personalized service.

📍 Start at Icheri Sheher(Old City) for walking tour

Your Baku City Tour begins at Icheri Sheher (Old City), the ancient heart of Baku. Through the Double Gates (also known as the Shamakhi Gate), you’ll step into a medieval world of cobbled streets, ancient walls, and historical monuments.

Baku was declared the capital of Azerbaijan in the 13th century after a powerful earthquake destroyed Shamakhi. The Shirvanshah dynasty moved their capital to Baku, shaping it into a significant cultural and trade center.

Here, you'll explore during Old City Baku Tour:

  • The Caravanserais – Multani and Bukhara, once home to merchants from India, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan
  • Historic Hamams (Bathhouses) – used by travelers before entering the city
  • Notable sites: Baku Khans’ House, the Sailors House, the Chain House, and the famous Cat House

📍 Visit the Iconic Maiden Tower during the Old City Walking Tour

Standing tall within the Old City, the Maiden Tower is one of Baku’s most recognized landmarks. Originally constructed in the 6th century BC as a fire worshippers’ temple and later completed in the 12th century, it served defensive and ceremonial purposes.🟢 Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001, along with the Shirvanshahs’ Palace.

📍 Explore the Shirvanshahs' Palace Complex

During the sightseeing tour of Baku, our next destination is the Shirvanshahs’ Palace Complex - a key highlight of any Baku sightseeing tour. Built after the capital moved from Shamakhi, this majestic complex includes:

  • Main Palace building
  • Palace Mosque and Minaret
  • Divankhana (royal hall)
  • Mausoleums (including Seyid Yahya Bakuvi’s)
  • Murad’s Gate and sacred underground Bathhouse

📍 See the Ismailiyya Palace

Located on Istiglaliyyat Street, this Gothic-style palace was commissioned by millionaire Musa Naghiyev in memory of his son. Designed by architect Josef Ploska, the building was inspired by European Gothic cathedrals and took 5 years to complete. Today, it houses the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences.

📍 Stroll Through Fountain Square & Nizami Street

As part of the sightseeing of Baku, enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Fountain Square, one of the city's most popular gathering spots. As part of the Baku walking tour, stroll along Nizami Street, a vibrant shopping and pedestrian zone named after the poet Nizami Ganjavi.

📍 End at Baku Boulevard & Caspian Sea

Conclude your Tour of Baku City at the scenic Baku Boulevard, stretching along the Caspian Sea since 1909.

Enjoy a Boat Tour, relax by the water, or visit modern malls like Daniz Mall and Park Boulevard Mall for some evening shopping.

This Baku day trip is customizable based on your preferences – available as a Half Day or Full Day Baku City Tour, or combined with other nearby attractions.

At your pace

You’ll see the basics of the city, which is a good starting point for your Azerbaijan adventure. The thing I appreciated about this tour was that you weren’t rushed and you could go at your own place. cjschreiner May 30, 2022

More then a city tour

We thoroughly enjoyed our City Tour with Guided Azerbaijan. Our guide, Nurlan, was very knowledgeable, charming and above all, passionate about Azerbaijan. We learned so much about history of Baku . We enjoyed the city tour so much, we booked an overnight tour to Sheki with them. This was the highlight of our entire trip.We really enjoyed our time with Nurlan, learning about the country's history, geography, politics and sports, all while sharing a few laughs! The hotel in Sheki was beautiful. We were very happy with the tours, and would recommend it to anyone visiting Azerbaijan. Nancy I June 11, 2022

Great Introduction to a Wonderful City

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. El was our tour guide and he was phenomenal. He was not only insightful with his information on the history of the city with a lot of engaging stories about the buildings, but he was also willing to answer all our questions and talk about current events. The first part of the tour was brisk walking through the newer part of the city then through the old city and then a brief drive to the highland park area which had amazing views. This tour definitely hits all the highlights and provides a good base for learning about Baku. There were a few areas that were inaccessible due to the Formula 1 race but most of the time that won't be an issue. I highly recommend this tour. Krista B June 12, 2022

Power packed tour!

We had a wonderful time. 3-4 hours was the max amount of time we could spend on a tour due to our flight departure time but it turned out perfect. Our guide (Mr. Elsever) was fun to talk to and very knowledgeable. So glad we got to spend some time with him. I’d highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for an informative tour of Azerbaijan.
