Gabala Tour

Embark on a full-day Gabala tour from Baku, exploring one of Azerbaijan’s most scenic and historically rich regions. From ancient mosques and majestic mountains to tranquil lakes and thrilling ski slopes, this Gabala day trip offers the perfect mix of nature, culture, and entertainment.

Your Gabala day trip from Baku starts with pickup from your hotel or any preferred location in the morning.

📍 Shamakhi Juma Mosque

Start your Gabala journey with a stop at the historic Shamakhi Juma Mosque, the oldest mosque in the Caucasus, built in 743. With its monumental architecture and spiritual heritage, it offers a unique glimpse into Azerbaijan’s Islamic past. This mosque is a symbolic site on the way to Gabala, making it a meaningful and cultural beginning to your adventure.

📍 Nohur Lake

The next stop of your Gabala sightseeing tour is Lake Nohur, located just outside Gabala city and surrounded by breathtaking mountains and dense forests. The lake is known for its mirror-like surface and serene atmosphere. During the visit, you can enjoy activities like horse riding and a peaceful boat trip. Gabala sightseeing wouldn’t be complete without this natural wonder.

📍 Yeddi Gozel Waterfall

Next on your Gabala excursion is the legendary Yeddi Gözəl Waterfall ("Seven Beauties"), one of Azerbaijan’s most visited natural attractions. Located in the village of Vandam, the waterfall flows in seven cascades down a steep mountainside. Be prepared for a scenic but slightly challenging climb — the higher you go, the more stunning the view becomes.

📍 Tufandag Mountain Resort

A highlight of any Gabala Azerbaijan trip, Tufandag Winter & Summer Resort is perfect for adventure seekers and families alike. Just 4 km from Gabala city center, the resort offers:

A modern cable car system with panoramic views

Ski slopes with 17 km of tracks for all skill levels

Ski and snowboard rentals

Training schools with professional instructors

Family-friendly facilities including playgrounds and cafes

Whether you’re visiting in winter or summer, Tufandag is a must-see destination.

📍 Gabala Shooting Centre

For those interested in sports and adrenaline, the Gabala Shooting Centre is a unique experience.

The center is open to both athletes and tourists and offers a fun, safe, and thrilling atmosphere.

Historical Background of Gabala

Gabala lies in the heart of the Shaki-Zagatala region and borders Dagestan and Georgia. It is one of the oldest cities in Azerbaijan, with ruins of an ancient city over 2,000 years old. The area is also famous for its vast chestnut and nut forests, many of which are over 500 years old. In spring, the blooming chestnut trees create a truly picturesque landscape.

Amazing trip to a winter wonderland!

We visited for a long weekend and booked our entire trip through Guided Azerbaijan. I couldn't recommend them highly enough, from start to finish their organisation (especially Fuad) and help were amazing and they made sure they tailored the trip so we could see everything we wanted to see! Gabala was incredibly pretty and Fuad tailored our trip so we could maximise our time in the snow on the mountain! Michael P December 16, 2019
