Guba & Khinalig Tour is one of the most rewarding ways to discover the natural beauty, mountain culture, and local heritage of northern Azerbaijan. This private guided trip from Baku takes you through forest landscapes, mountain roads, historic communities, and one of the country’s most remarkable highland villages. It is an ideal experience for travelers who want more than a standard sightseeing route and prefer a day filled with scenery, culture, and memorable stops.
This tour is a great choice for first-time visitors, couples, families, or anyone who wants to see one of Azerbaijan’s most unique regions outside the capital.
Your tour starts with a drive through Gachrash Forest, one of the greenest and most beautiful places in northern Azerbaijan. With its tall trees, cool air, and peaceful atmosphere, the forest is a refreshing escape from the city and a great way to begin your journey. It’s especially nice for those who love mountain views, quiet nature, and taking photos.
Get ready to explore Mastargah Waterfall, a peaceful gem situated among the stunning mountains of the Guba region. This stop offers a calm escape, adding a unique and quieter dimension to your journey, making it all the more captivating. It's the perfect place to unwind, soak in the breathtaking views, and uncover lesser-known corners of northern Azerbaijan.
A highlight of the day is Khinalig Village, one of the oldest and highest mountain settlements in the Caucasus. Sitting high in the mountains, this village is famous for its breathtaking views, unique culture, and traditional lifestyle. Visiting Khinalig lets you experience a different side of Azerbaijan and see one of its most iconic cultural spots.
Khinalig’s remote location, unique buildings, and long history make it one of the most memorable stops on the tour and a big reason why this trip is special.
You’ll also visit Red Village, one of Azerbaijan’s most historically significant cultural places. Famous for its Mountain Jewish heritage, this village adds a special historical and cultural touch to your trip and lets you discover another side of the region.
Before heading back to Baku, you’ll stop at the Gadim Guba Carpet Factory to see traditional carpet weaving up close. This visit gives you a real taste of local life and shows the skill Guba is known for. Watching local artisans hand-weave carpets makes your trip feel even more personal and authentic.
This experience is ideal for travelers who want to combine mountain scenery, village culture, local traditions, and regional history in one well-planned day. Instead of organizing transport and remote stops on your own, you can simply enjoy the route with private service, local guidance, and a comfortable pace.
With forest views, mountain scenery, heritage sites, and cultural experiences, the Guba & Khinalig Tour is a memorable way to explore one of Azerbaijan’s most authentic northern regions.

If you want to savor the true beauty of the Caucasus Mountains, you have to include this tour in your itinerary. We were awestruck by the beauty of the Caucasus surrounding the village Khinalig. The serpentine road leading towards the village alone is gonna take your breath away. The other highlight of the trip was a visit to the Synagogue. Our guide explained how one can see the Mosque from standing in front of the Synagogue from one side of the river and at the same time the Synagogue can be seen from the other side of the river if you stand in front of the Mosque. That symbolizes the unity and tolerance of Azerbaijani culture. That really moved me! In todayβs world we need such qualities to be imbibed in cultures. We also visited the winter Synagogue and we received a very warm welcome. Our hearts were really filled with gratitude after this tour. A huge shoutout to the people behind making this a successful trip. Fuad, who arranged our preferred driver and guide although I confirmed him about the tour really late at night. Our driver Djavid was really professional and very polite. Last but not the least, our amazing guide Elsevar. I highly recommend Guided Azerbaijan! Sum R January 9, 2020

Prior to going on this tour, the communication with Guided Azerbaijan was excellent and they were very helpful with organising it. The tour itself was fantastic. Never dull and provided with plenty of background information. Started with a 2 hour drive to Quba with a visit to the red town, carpet factory and a mosque. The red town is architecturally fascinating whilst seeing the work and dedication carried out in the carpet factory was also very interesting. This was followed by an absolutely astonishing drive to Khinalig. The pictures provided by others look fantastic, but they still do not do it justice. Khinalig itself is a beautifully set village. On the way back we had delicious Qutabs in the forest. Elnara, our guide, was great throughout. Knowledgeable, friendly and ensured that we were comfortable and happy throughout. We were asked if we wanted to stop at places on the way, and Elnara arranged tea with one of the local farmers in Khinalig which was an unforgettable experience. Whilst a long day, it goes quickly. Highly recommended! Stumodernart September 20, 2022
